I have friend who lets his 15yr old daughter do all these things. He says it is what “everyone” does these days and that he’d rather she do it at home with supervision than somewhere less safe. She got into harder drugs a few months ago and had to go through a program to dry out. Afterward the only consequences were drug testing and counseling, and having to stop smoking pot for two months. Now she is right back to smoking and drinking in her father’s house with his consent.
The last Time I was over there I watched a parade of older boys walking into the house right past her dad and into her room carrying six packs. All he said was “have fun kids!”
He is an Ivy League educated man. He swears up and down that all the parents he knows do the same and that it has no influence over how the kids turn out.
What do you think of this? Do you know parents who allow these things? Do you let your kids do these things? Why or why not?
What cold I possibly do about this? Not calling CPS or something like that. It would nomake her life better, but what can I say to her Dad? Anything?

Since this girl is 15, I would call CPS on the parents. Whether or not the parents approve, it’s still against the law.

My neighbors used to smoke pot with their 15 yr old son, and they supervised him at parties and allowed him to drink. The parents did it for recreational use, the son got addicted. Fast forward 4 yrs, now the kid is a junkie and dies of a drug overdose. The parents blame themselves. (True story)

If you intervene now and save this child from her parents, perhaps she can have a better chance at life.

Don’t ever think that if you eat more you will pile up fat and look like a sumo wrestler instead of the barreled hulk you wanted to be. You eat a lot and then workout a lot. Any fatty deposit gets burnt out but the tissues grow with the increased protein intake which is the main food that builds muscles.

When you see an advertisement for an “miracle” piece of ab equipment, the people who are using them usually have great bodies, low body fat, and a great six pack. However I can guarantee you one thing, and that is they did not get that way to using one single piece of abdominal exercise equipment.

Like we just talked about with why lots of crunches do not help you get six pack abs, the same holds true for any ab crunch machine or anything else you see on an advertisement.

This all goes back to the false concept that working the abs with lots of exercises will directly lead to a six pack. All the people who have the best abs got them by exercising their whole body and by adhering to a very strict diet. Not by using some ab crunch gimmick for “two easy payments of .95.” Six Pack Abs Mistake #3: Eating too many calories.

Sounds overly simplistic doesn’t it?

This is one of the most important core concepts that is crucial to understanding how to lose body fat and develop six pack abs. So many people try to eat healthy and still have trouble losing weight. Sometimes they think they have something physiologically wrong with them and their bodies simply cannot lose weight.

Before you fall into this trap and start seeking “miracle” quick fixes, you need to know that not being able to lose body fat is simply a matter of taking in too many calories. If you try keeping a food journal for a week and counting the calories you consume you will be amazed at the insight it will give you.

Even if you eat 400 extra calories a day from little snacks here and there (which is not difficult at all), you will be taking in an extra 2,800 calories per week. For some people, taking in an extra 500-1000 calories per day can easily come from foods that are extremely calorie dense but do not help you feel full. Such foods include bagels, donuts, muffins, potato chips, soda, any kind of fast food, and more.

So before you think that getting six pack abs or simply losing body fat is impossible for you, try taking a few days to really track what you are eating. You will be surprised that losing weight can really be as simple as cutting out small calories dense foods from your diet.
